Out of chaos comes form. It’s an episodic cycle: mess-up, clean-up, repeat.

Methods

I am a vessel maker.

I work like a collage artist and a builder. I use a variety of methods to make shapes and then I combine them. I love low-tech.

My methods include: wheel-throwing, hand- building , using the low-tech cardboard “drop mold,” slip casting, press molding, extruding forms.

Though vessels are functional objects, my primary interest is in the vessel as symbol: as an iconic shape or as a carrier of information. I am so pleased when there is a verbal core to the work —a narrative, or some kind of word play. The vessel has become a means of expression for me.
