Choosing Language

When I made this simple cylinder with the embossed Braille alphabet, I realized that I wanted language to be my niche in ceramics.

I decided to link my vessels to words whoever I could.

I began with cups simply and absurdly labeled : “clay cup” or “actual size,” or “exact replica.” I was going for a dead-pan minimalism. Years later, for an exhibition, I displayed the cups on a doll’s table I made of clay. A friend suggested the title: “Very Table Genius.”
